Summer Brother closing film NFF 2023!
SUMMER BROTHER by Joren Molter, based on the novel of Jaap Robben, is the closing film of the Dutch Film Festival. The premiere will take place on the 26th of September in the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht. Tickets are available from the 1st of june.

The jury praised director Stigter "for the magnetic visual treatment of the images of the 1938 found footage of David Kurtz by his grandchild Glenn Kurtz and for the resonating implications of the testimonies of the survivors during the film, all of them made off camera with an impacting voice over, bringing back to life the lost voices of a lost community in Poland during WWII."

Our stop-motion series POTTENKIJKERS (SNOOPERS) has received support from the NPO! The series is currently in preproduction and will be made by Yvonne Kroese, Britt Snel and Jamille van Wijngaarden. Urszula Antoniak new film Magic Mountains started shooting!
Cast & crew travelled to Slovakia for the shooting of Magic Mountains. The film will be shot in June and July in Slovakia and the Netherlands.

Van 30 april tot 29 mei vinden in Eindhoven - onder meer in Oud-Woensel - de opnames plaats van de telefilm ‘Hemelrijken’. Jennifer Welts en Esmee van Kampen spelen de hoofdrollen in de thriller van regisseur Stanley Kolk. Het scenario is geschreven door Chris Westendorp. De film wordt gemaakt in het kader van Telefilm in co productie met de EO.

Family Affair Films koopt filmrechten Zomervacht van Jaap Robben!
Family Affair Films heeft de rechten van Jaap Robben’s roman Zomervacht gekocht. Scenarist Britt Snel en regisseur Joren Molter, bekend van onder andere In Kropsdam is iedereen gelukkig (2016) en Dòst(2018), vormen het artistieke team dat Zomervachtgaat verfilmen.
De roman gaat over de dertienjarige Brian die bij zijn vader in een caravan woont op een afgelegen terrein. Brians verstandelijk en fysiek beperkte broer Lucien komt tijdens de zomer bij hen wonen omdat de instelling waar hij normaal verblijft gerenoveerd wordt. De vader maakt jonge Brian verantwoordelijk voor de verzorging van zijn broer. Maar hoe maak je de juiste keuzes als je zelf nog zoveel moet ontdekken?

BLOODY MARIE beleeft wereldpremière tijdens IFFR 2019
Op zondag 27 januari zal BLOODY MARIE zijn wereldpremière beleven op het International Film Festival Rotterdam. De film van Guido van Driel en Lennert Hillege zal te zien zijn in het programmaonderdeel Limelight. De hoofdrollen worden vertolkt door de Duitse actrice Susanne Wolff (Styx) en de Roemeense acteur Dragoș Bucur (Dogs). Overige rollen zijn voor Mark Rietman (Zuidas, Riphagen), Teun Luijkx (A’dam – E.V.A., Fenix), Jan Bijvoet (Peaky Blinders, Fenix), Murth Mossel (Hartenstrijd) en Aart Staartjes (De stratenmaker op zee show, Sesamstraat).
De ooit succesvolle striptekenares Marie Wankelmut woont op de Amsterdamse wallen. Drankzuchtig en als een ongeleid projectiel belandt ze tegenwoordig van het ene conflict in het andere. Een gruwelijk ontnuchterende gebeurtenis bij haar directe buren dwingt haar om in actie te komen en het roer om te gooien.
Guido van Driel’s eerste lange speelfilm, De Wederopstanding van een Klootzak, opende in 2013 het IFFR. “Ik voel mij bijzonder vereerd dat er voor de tweede maal een film van mij in première mag gaan bij dit prestigieuze festival." aldus van Driel.
Bero Beyer, directeur van IFFR: “We zijn blij om Guido van Driel opnieuw op IFFR te verwelkomen met deze mooie, schurende en bij vlagen hilarische film. Alweer zo’n eigenzinnig pareltje van zijn hand waarin de hoofdpersoon zich niks aantrekt van anderen.”
Guido van Driel is striptekenaar en filmmaker. Zijn eerste fictiefilm was de poëtische singleplay Groen is toch de mooiste kleur voor gras. Met zijn eerste speelfilm De Wederopstanding van een Klootzak, gebaseerd op zijn eigen strip Om mekaar in Dokkum, zette Guido zichzelf op de kaart. De film werd overspoeld door lovende recensies, zowel nationaal als internationaal.
Lennert Hillege was cameraman van meer dan 20 speelfilms, waaronder van alle fictiefilms van Van Driel. In 2002 won Hillege de prijs voor Beste Camera voor Speel met Mij tijdens het Short Filmfestival in Berlijn. In 2010 won Hillege het Gouden Kalf voor Beste Camera voor RU There van David Verbeek. Hillege’s meest recente werk, Urszula Antoniaks vierde speelfilm Beyond Words, beleefde zijn wereldpremière in Toronto en de Europese première in San Sebastian 2017. Hillege won hiervoor o.a. de prijs voor Beste Camera tijdens het Poolse Filmfestival.
BLOODY MARIE is geproduceerd door Floor Onrust van Family Affair Films (Nothing Personal, Beyond Words) in coproductie met Bulletproof Cupid en de VPRO, en is tot stand gekomen met steun van het Nederlands Film Fonds, Netherlands Film Production Incentive, CoBO Fonds, Belgische Tax Shelter en MEDIA en Eurimages.
BLOODY MARIE is vanaf 28 februari landelijk te zien in de bioscoop.

BINTI RECEIVES NETHERLANDS PRODUCTION INCENTIVE
Our coproduction Binti receives funding by the Netherlands Production Incentive. The film is produced by Bulletproof Cupid. Binti is written and directed by Frederike Migom.
Congolese Binti (12) has lived in Belgium her whole life and dreams of being a famous youtuber/vlogger. When she and her dad Jovial are being deported, Binti sees but one solution: her dad has to marry the mom of Belgian Elias (11).
Bini is currently shooting in Belgium.

Anna van Keimpema's short was selected for the opening ceremony of the Niederrhein Film Festival (March 2th-4th) in Wesel, Germany. Our director Anna and screenwriter Amarins Romkema were present at the screening.

The award for Best Editing went to Moek de Groot and Benja Bruijning was awarded for Best Actor.

The screenplay will be written by Britt Snel and the film will be directed by Joren Molter.
TWO TELEVISION FILMS SELECTED FOR DEVELOPMENT!
Both HEMELRIJKEN and MAGIC MOUNTAINS have been selected for development by the CoBO Fund.
HEMELRIJKEN (in co-production with EO) will be directed by Stanley Kolk and written by Chris Westendorp. MAGIC MOUNTAINS (in co-production with NTR) will be directed and written by Urszula Antoniak.
RETURN OF THE HONEY BUZZARD WINS AT SLEMANI FILM FEST!
Stanley Kolk's Telefilm THE RETURN OF THE HONEY BUZZARD is the winner of two awards at the festival in Iraq.
The film won the award for Best Feature Film in the International Competition and Benja Bruijning achieved the award for Best Actor in a feature film.
