Nesjomme wins Best Feature-Length Documentary!

Nesjomme won the Gouden Kalf (the Dutch Academy Award) for Best Feature-Length Documentary!

German premiere of Donkey Days at Filmfest Hamburg

Donkey Days celebrated its German premiere this past Sunday, September 28, during Filmfest Hamburg.

Double nomination for Nesjomme

We are happy to announce that our documentary Nesjomme, directed by Sandra Beerends, has been nominated for the Gouden Kalveren (the Dutch Academy Awards) on the Shortlist 2025 in two categories! The film is up for Best Feature-Length Documentary and composer Alex Simu has been nominated for Best Music.

The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony on Friday, October 3rd.

Occupied City: in and on the Rijksmuseum

Starting September 11, the Rijksmuseum's facade will be transformed into a giant cinema screen. For 137 days, the film Occupied City will be shown, capturing everyday scenes of Amsterdam. The film, shot between 2020 and 2023, focuses on traces of the city's occupation during the Second World War.

Directed by Steve McQueen and based on the book by Bianca Stigter, the film will be shown on the facade without sound. Inside the museum's auditorium, a version with sound and a voice-over will be screened, telling stories of persecution, resistance, and collaboration.

Two productions nominated for Prix Europa

Our productions Love Me, Love Me Not by Leila Sahir and Nesjomme by Sandra Beerends have both been nominated for the Prix Europa 2025!

The jury sessions will take place from October 6-9 in Berlin, with the award ceremony on Friday evening, October 10.

For The Win selected for Cinekid Festival

We’re excited to announce that For The Win, a Family Affair Films and NTR production, has been selected for Cinekid, the world’s largest children’s film festival! The series is in the running for the Best Dutch Series award. Huge thanks to our amazing cast and crew for all their hard work!

Donkey Days premieres at Locarno Film Festival

Rosanne Pel’s new feature, Donkey Days, premiered on August 10 in the Concorso Internazionale at the celebrated Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.

Neshoma wins FOCAL Award

Documentary Neshoma by Sandra Beerends has won the FOCAL award for Best Use of Footage in a History Feature!

Donkey days selected for Locarno Film Festival!

The feature Donkey Days will have its international premiere at the 78th edition of the Locarno Film Festival in the official competition. The film is written and directed by Rosanne Pel. For screening dates and tickets, please visit the Locarno website.

Down in the Dumps wins at the 65th Zlín Film Festival

We’re proud to announce that Down in the Dumps has won the Award for Best Short Animation for Children at the 65th Zlín Film Festival.

Special screenings & release of The Jacket

Alex Simu Wins Buma Award for Neshoma!

On April 16 composer Alex Simu has won the Buma Music in Media Award for his beautiful score for Neshoma!

“The mostly silent footage of the capital comes brilliantly to life through the music,” the jury remarked.

Down in the Dumps has its Dutch premiere at Kaboom Animation Festival! 

The film will be shown on Saturday, March 22 (Dutch premiere) at 14:00 at Slachtstraat Filmtheater in Utrecht, and on Friday, March 28 at 14:00 at Eye in Amsterdam.

Summer Brother goes to ReelAbilities Festival in New York!

The film will be screened at the 17th annual ReelAbilities Film Festival in New York from April 3 - 9 2025. Director Joren Molter will be attending the festival.

Summer Souvenir selected for Go Short!

The official premiere of Summer Souvenir will take place during the Go Short Festival in Nijmegen. The film is selected for The Dutch Competition. The festival takes place April 1 - 6 2025.

Love Me, Love Me Not television premiere on March 8th!

Love Me, Love Me Not will have its television premiere on Saturday, March 8, at 22:00 on NPO 3. It also can be seen on NPO Plus. Written and directed by Leila Sahir.

Special Mention for Down in the Dumps

At the Berlinale Down in the Dumps by Vera van Wolferen received a Special Mention. Out of the Jury Statement: “This lovingly created animation told us a story which reveals that dark feelings can only be overcome with the help of friends. We found the film very moving and original.”

Over 30,000 visitors for Nesjomme!

Sandra Beerends' documentary Nesjomme has now reached over 30,000 visitors in Dutch cinemas!

Down in the Dumps selected for Berlinale 2025!

Our animated short Down in the Dumps will have its international premiere at the 75th edition of the Berlin Filmfestival in the Generation Kplus competition. The film is directed by Vera van Wolferen and written by Britt Snel. For screening dates and tickets, please visit the Berlinale website.

Nesjomme wins Crystal Film Award

Nesjomme by Sandra Beerends has reached the milestone of 10,000 visitors. For this, she receives the Crystal Film Award. It is the first Crystal Film Award to be presented in 2025.
