Aspiring writer Gabe and his art model girlfriend Joey live a comfortable life in the artistic milieu of Amsterdam. That is, until a rare visit by Gabe’s wayward half-sister Liz, a former pop singer with a flair for disruption, throws their world into turmoil.
With her childlike disregard, Liz soon revamps old tensions with Gabe, who fears being eclipsed by his successful sibling. To make matters worse, Joey and Liz develop an infatuation for each other, inspiring Liz to reignite her musical career. An awakened sense of belonging catalyses Joey into a journey of self-discovery while further complicating an already deteriorating family dynamic.
Torch Song tells a contemporary story that explores the relationships between artists, their subjects, and their audience. A satirical drama on the burden of self-awareness, it shows how the presence of a star can reveal our own shades of darkness.
